Weapon Mastery Quest: Moonlighter 2 Journal Checkpoints

This Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Weapon Mastery guide follows three checkpoints: talk to Anacard, complete her Old Broom boss challenge, then return for the reward. The journal tells you which step needs attention. If it still asks you to find Anacard, you have not advanced to the boss objective; if that objective is complete, you need the hand-in conversation instead of another dungeon run.

Find Anacard in Tresna bug: Steam PC save workaround

Use this only when Weapon Mastery still asks you to find Anacard and she cannot be reached. The replacement bypasses the conversation and advances to the broom challenge; it does not move the NPC or complete the boss fight. It is not guaranteed to work with every save version.

1. Before editing Weapon Mastery progress, close the game. Press Windows + R, paste this folder path and open it. Copy SaveData.bin to a separate backup folder before proceeding. Steam Cloud can optionally be paused while editing; do not delete either local or cloud saves.

2. Open the original SaveData.bin in a text editor that preserves its encoding. Use Ctrl + F to find the exact Weapon Mastery conversation flag below. Stop if it is absent, appears more than once, or the file is not readable text; do not add a new field or use Replace All.

3. Change only the final n to y. Leave the initial n, the 0 and every separator unchanged. The Weapon Mastery conversation flag should then read:

4. Save with the original encoding and the exact filename SaveData.bin, not SaveData.bin.txt. Reopen the game and check that Weapon Mastery now shows the broom boss objective. If the save will not load or the objective does not advance, close the game and restore your untouched backup. If you paused cloud sync, keep it paused until you have checked the local result; resolve any later conflict using the save you intend to keep.

Weapon Mastery not completing after the boss fight

Check that Weapon Mastery had reached the broom objective before the fight and that you kept Old Broom equipped. If the boss objective is complete, return to Nou's stall and speak to Anacard beside him. If it still says to find Anacard, the conversation stage is the blocker; defeating another boss will not advance that conversation. An achievement notification alone does not mean the quest has been handed in.

Steam PC: optional boss-objective override

If you have already completed the broom fight but Weapon Mastery remains stuck on that objective, this optional edit directly marks the stage complete. It skips the objective rather than fixing combat detection, and may not grant Humble Hero. Back up the save and close the game as above. Do not apply both replacements blindly.

1. In SaveData.bin, find this exact Weapon Mastery boss-stage field. Stop if it is missing, duplicated, or does not match your current quest stage:

2. Replace only its final n with y, preserving the 1 and all other characters:

3. Save without changing the filename or encoding, reopen the game, and look for Anacard beside Nou to hand in Weapon Mastery. If she is absent or the save behaves incorrectly, close the game and restore your backup instead of changing more fields.

Game Pass, consoles, or no matching save text

The Weapon Mastery save replacements above are for Windows Steam saves, not instructions for PC Game Pass, Xbox, PS5 or Switch 2. On those platforms, update the game, fully restart it, return to Anacard's normal location and check the current objective. If she is still inaccessible, keep the save and wait for a platform fix. Do not guess a save path, edit unreadable binary data, or delete progress to try to force the quest forward.

1. Select Old Broom in your gear chest

Open the gear chest, choose the Spears category and equip Old Broom as your melee weapon. It is the starting broom, so you do not need a new recipe. Check the actual weapon name in your loadout before entering the dungeon: another spear is not the Old Broom requested by Weapon Mastery. Keep the broom equipped for the boss fight, and confirm that the quest's boss objective is active before committing to the run.

2. Defeat The Herald with Old Broom equipped

Any boss can satisfy the Weapon Mastery objective; The Herald is our suggested target because it is the first boss and a familiar fight. Take the Ultimate Kalina Challenge for a shorter route if available, or reach The Herald through a normal Kalina run. You do not need to unlock the Ultimate challenge just for this quest. Keep Old Broom equipped. As a precaution for the quest, use the broom for the final hit; this does not mean every hit must come from the broom.

3. Return to Nou's stall and speak to Anacard

After the boss objective updates, return to Tresna and speak to Anacard beside Nou to finish Weapon Mastery. If the journal still asks for the boss defeat, use the progression checks above before committing to another run.

Nou's Gift recipe vs. the Humble Hero achievement

The recipe comes from the Weapon Mastery hand-in; Humble Hero is the separate achievement for defeating a boss with the broom. An achievement popup is not confirmation that Anacard has given you the recipe. Likewise, a save edit that advances the journal is not a substitute for earning the achievement through combat. Check the journal, crafting options and achievement separately if only one of them has updated.
